SARBJIT SINGH JOINS AS SPORTS MANAGEMENT PROFESSOR

Farmingdale State College welcomes Sarbjit “Sab”Singh as an assistant professor of sport management in the School of Business.  Professor Singh serves as a facultyadvisor and teaches sport management, sports law and general business management classes.

Professor Singh spent the past 12 years as a business management consultant and attorney, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Farmingdale.   He is the founder and principal of The Kaur Group, a sports business strategy consulting and research firm serving sport properties, including teams, leagues, corporations, non-profits and events.  

Prior to that position, Professor Singh was a research director in the consumer practice of Guideline, Inc., a NYC-based market research firm that assists companies from the Fortune 500 down to high-growth ventures with their strategic business research needs. Professor Singh was also a consultant with Accenture, Growthink and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Along with his professional experiences, Professor Singh is a member of several professional and academic associations, including the New York State bar, the Sports Lawyers Association, and the National Sports Marketing Network. He has written for and been quoted in several trade, business and general interest publications. 

Professor Singh previously taught sport management and entrepreneurship as an adjunct professor at New York University and St. John’s University. 

A resident of Rockville Centre, NY, Professor Singh earned his J.D. and MBA degrees from Emory University, and his BSBA, cum laude, from Georgetown University.

For a number of years, enrollment in sport management classes has been steadily increasing.  Recently, Albany granted approval to Farmingdale to offer a bachelor’s degree in sport management beginning fall 2011. 

Farmingdale State College ranks in the top 110 public colleges nationally in terms of the earning power of its graduates, according to payscale.com. Farmingdale has also been named as the 5th safest campus in the nation, based on a statistical analysis conducted by the online publication The Daily Beast.
