George LoPresti
At the Circulation desk, any current student can check out books using their SUNYCard. You can check out up to ten books at a time, for two weeks, with renewals possible. Please return books using the drop-box on the east side (by Knapp Hall) of the building when the library is closed.
Late fines apply to all patrons, and accumulate at the rate of ten cents per day per book. One dollar per day will be charged for any reserve material taken from the library without permission. Official transcripts and transfer of academic credits will be blocked for students owing library fines or lost book charges.
If you have a SUNY Card and proof of current enrollment (such as an expiration date on SUNYcard, a registrar's receipt or print-out of current class schedule) you can check out books at any other SUNY library, including Stony Brook, Suffolk & Nassau Community Colleges, and Old Westbury.
Reference
420-2184

Jim Macinick
The Reference desk is located on the main floor of the Library, next to the central staircase. A Librarian is always available to help you with your research. Getting help from a Librarian at the beginning of the research process can save you time, stress, and maybe even money.
Reserve Room
420-2183
The Reserve Room contains materials such as books and articles that have been set aside by a faculty member or Librarian. In addition, the Library's collection of over 1,000 videos is housed in the Reserve Room. If you would like to use anything that is on Reserve, or see a list of materials on reserve for a particular class, please go to the Circulation Desk. You can also search our catalog for reserve materials by title.
Periodicals

Azadeh Mirzadeh
The Periodicals Department has a large collection of scholarly journals, popular and trade magazines, and newspapers, many of which are on microfilm. Periodicals may not be removed from the library. You can find this department on the second floor.
Interlibrary Loan

If Greenley Library does not have the book or article you need, you can ask a Librarian to Interlibrary Loan the material for you. If may take up to three weeks for the Library to obtain the requested material from another library, so be sure to start your research early.
Acquisitions
420-2420

Karen Gelles
Acquisitions orders monographs and other materials for the Library which support the curriculum at Farmingdale State. The Acquisitions librarian works with faculty from the various academic departments to meet the information requirements of individual courses. You can now submit a book order online.
Technical Services
420-2205

Carol Greenholz
This is the department that processes and catalogs all the books we have in the library. Without Tech. Services, a library would just be a giant warehouse of books.
Information Literacy
420-2173

Jim Macinick
Greenley Library offers information literacy instruction tailored to specific courses. The program is designed to help students learn to distinguish among various sources, determine if a source is appropriate for a given assignment and design effective research strategies. By integrating instruction within a class, we can insure that students' immediate academic needs are met while also teaching them skills that are applicable across disciplines.
Virtual Library
420-2472

Theresa Zahor
Greenley Library offers access to over 80 databases and 100 web resources for your research needs. Database classes are conducted in our Library Computer lab, Room 105, located off the lobby of Greenley Hall. Databases are listed alphabetically and are also organized by Subject area. Announcements of new databases, library events, and new services are posted on the virtual library home page at: www.farmingdale.edu/library/dbquick.html

There is a one-time charge of fifty cents for the card, and you can re-use the card by adding more money to it. The Vendacard machine is in the computer area.
