The State University of New York is making great efforts to expand
its academic presence throughout the world and to make study abroad
an accessible, viable, secure and rewarding option for our students.
We are proud to offer an incomparable array of study abroad opportunities,
with more than 400 programs in 54 countries, where students can
study subjects from anthropology to music composition to zoology,
at graduate and undergraduate levels, in several languages and settings.
We are working closely with our partners, including the leading
educational institutions of the world, to ensure a safe and comfortable
environment in which to live and learn.
Each year, thousands of students from all over the United States
choose to participate in our programs, stepping out of their everyday
lives and familiar environs, and expanding their educational experience
to include exposure to new cultures, peoples and landscapes. They
recognize that some of the best ways to know another country's people
are to live among them, eat their food, breathe their air, speak
their language and participate in their customs. They understand,
too, that the key to better understanding ourselves is to step out
of our own everyday lives to discover and understand others' experiences
and perspectives.
