The traditional crime orientation of security is supplemented with a new threat model with which to identify and understand other sources of loss - waste, accidents, errors, unethical practices - that are interrelated both in cause and effect. An approach of looking at all threats and developing a total control program is new to organizations and serves as the conceptual basis for the course.
