ILR 030 - Stress Reduction & Healing
CEUs:

Mindfulness is a living art that involves cultivating
moment-to-moment, non-judging awareness of our daily
experience, however pleasant or unpleasant. With the
resulting ability to see more deeply into the nature of
things, our minds become clearer, more peaceful and better
able to handle stress. This is a major step one can take
towards improving overall health and well-being. Although
simple in concept, the work we will do is intense, requiring
an hour of "homework" every day in addition to class time.
The atmosphere is supportive, and people may wish to share
about life issues that arise. A book and tape are required.
Full Catastrophe Living by John Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., available
at local bookstores. Book cost: approximately $15.00.
The audio practice tape will be available from the

IND 407 - Security Management
Credits:
3.00
The course encourages students to probe the phenomenon of
risk to discover ways to reinforce a facility's resistance
to threats and theft. A process of analyzing security
problems leads to an examination of cause and effect
relationships, and to the realization that the slender stem
of a single loss can have entangled roots as complex as they
are numerous. The traditional crime orientation of security
is supplemented with a new threat model with which to
identify and understand other sources of loss - waste,
accidents, errors, unethical practices - that are
interrelated both in cause and effect. An approach of
looking at all threats and developing a total control
program is new to organizations and serves as the conceptual
basis for the course.
