Volunteer Gardeners
Old Westbury Gardens
Description: Volunteer gardeners preserve the beauty of Old Westbury Gardens along with highly skilled horticulturists in a designated area (Cutting Garden, Demonstration Gardens, Rose & Cottage Garden, or Walled Garden). Duties include planting, edging, weeding, pruning, deadheading, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, cultivating, staking, raking, cutting, mulching, shoveling, and harvesting. At the moment, we are especially looking for volunteers in the Cutting Garden, Walled Garden, and Rose & Cottage Garden.
Requirements: Must be in good physical condition, as work requires bending, lifting, and working in hot, sunny weather.
Commitment: 3 - 4 hours per week between March/April and end of October/November. Opportunities Monday – Friday. Schedules can be arranged to work around the school calendar.
