The Horticulture Services Division (HSD) internship program at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C, is open to all current undergraduate and graduate students who study horticulture or related disciplines. A number of paid and unpaid internships are offered throughout the year in positions involving grounds management, greenhouse production, landscape architecture, and collections management.

KokoBo Plantscapes, a high-end residential/urban rooftop landscape design-build firm based in Hempstead, NY, is seeking design interns to work primarily in the design studio alongside the senior designer, assisting in various tasks such as price estimating, materials sourcing, landscape installations, design work, and 3D rendering of projects.

Old Westbury Gardens
Description: Volunteer gardeners preserve the beauty of Old Westbury Gardens along with highly skilled horticulturists in a designated area (Cutting Garden, Demonstration Gardens, Rose & Cottage Garden, or Walled Garden). Duties include planting, edging, weeding, pruning, deadheading, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, cultivating, staking, raking, cutting, mulching, shoveling, and harvesting. At the moment, we are especially looking for volunteers in the Cutting Garden, Walled Garden, and Rose & Cottage Garden.
Requirements: Must be in good physical condition, as work requires bending, lifting, and working in hot, sunny weather.
Commitment: 3 - 4 hours per week between March/April and end of October/November. Opportunities Monday – Friday. Schedules can be arranged to work around the school calendar.
