Q. I have been very busy and missed the deadline for filing the intent to graduate form, can I still participate in the Winter Commencement ceremony?

A. If you did not file by the deadline of November 1,  2012 you will have to wait for the May ceremony.

Q.  I received my diploma in the summer and would like to participate in the Winter Commencement ceremony.

A. The Winter Commencement ceremony is meant for those students who filed the intent to graduate form during the fall semester. Their names will be included in the ceremony brochure. If you completed your studies during the summer, you are invited to attend the May ceremony and your name will be included in the Commencement Program.

Q. Must I have a cap and gown to participate in the Winter Commencement ceremony?

A. Yes, you must have a cap and gown to participate. Caps and gowns will be available for purchase at the bookstore. Visit the Barnes and Noble Bookstore. Call the bookstore for information.

Q. When will the ceremony tickets be distributed?

A. The tickets will be distributed on Tuesday and Thursday, December 4 and 5 from 10:30-12:30 and from 4-6 and on Tuesday and Thursday, December 11 and 12 from 10:30-12:30 and from 4-6 in Gleeson 347. (631-420-2171) You must pick up your tickets in person. Students must bring their student ID.  There will be a maximum of five (5) tickets per student.

Q.  Can I get more than five tickets for the ceremony?

A. The number of tickets that will be distributed is determined by the room capacity of Roosevelt Hall as well as by the number of students who have filed intent to graduate forms and indicate that they will attend the ceremony.  Since Nold Hall (the gym) is under construction, Roosevelt Hall has a much smaller room capacity and therefore we will not be able to distribute extra tickets.

Q.  How long is the ceremony? 

A. The Winter Commencement ceremony usually takes about one hour.

Q.  One of my guests has special seating needs because of a disability.  How can I arrange for appropriate seating?

A.  Please send an email to wintercommencement@farmingdale.edu stating your name, and the name of your guest who needs special seating.

Q. Must I attend the preceremony instructions and line up at either 2 PM for the 3 PM ceremony or the 6 PM rehearsal for the 7 PM ceremony?

 A. Yes. We are combining instructions with the lineup. You are to report to the Little Theatre in Roosevelt Hall.  No guests are allowed at the preceremony instructions and line up.  The actual ceremony will take place in the Roosevelt Hall multi purpose room.

Q. Will my picture be taken at the ceremony?

A. Yes, your picture will be taken by a professional photographer and will be available for purchase in late January.

Q. What if the College is closed because of bad weather the day of Commencement?

A. The snow date is Friday, December 21 at the same times.
