The best time to meet with a career counselor is when you first enroll as a student. This will allow you to take advantage of the entire career development process by the time you graduate. This will lead you to have more confidence with your career choice. By taking advantage of the services of the Career Development Center (CDC) during your time as a Farmingdale student, you will be more prepared for a lifetime of career exploration and growth.
We can provide career assessment and career counseling which help you to identify your own interests, skills and values and the specific career paths which are a "best fit" for you. This is especially helpful if you're not absolutely certain of your career goals. We are also available to help you with resume and cover letter preparation, networking and interviewing skills and the use of social media to enhance your career or job search.
The CDC does not place students in positions, but it does post job and internship opportunities available at companies that wish to hire Farmingdale students and graduates. These postings are updated each week on our website under the "Jobs and Internships' tab. This information is also available in the Career Center.
The Career Development Center is also able to assist you with your job search through Career/Job Fairs held each semester. By attending a Job Fair, you will have the opportunity to meet many company representatives in one location and present your resume for review for jobs or internships that are available. Job Fairs are advertised through student email and on the Career Development Center website. We also arrange for industry representatives to visit the campus for individual on-site recruitment throughout the year. This information is posted on our website.
The services of the CDC are free of charge to all currently enrolled students and alumni.

The CDC is located on the lobby level of Greenley Hall, within the Student Success Center.
