Mandatory Activity Fee

The Mandatory Student Activity Fee (MSAF), first established in 1957, provides funding for all extracurricular activities on SUNY campuses state wide. At Farmingdale State College, the MSAF is:

  • Students Registered for 12 or More Credits 100.00 per semester
  • Students Registered for Less Than 12 Credits $ 8.00 per credit

The monies collected funds all activities facilitated by the Student Government Association.
Every two years, the student body at each state-operated campus of the State University of New York shall determine by a vote whether student activity programs shall be supported by either voluntary or mandatory student fee based on SUNY Policy 3901.

The Mandatory Activity Fee funds the following things on campus:

  • Artists and Lecture Program
  • Campus Life Awards
  • Spring Concert/Carnival
  • Campus Shuttle
  • Campus Rec
  • Commencement
  • Late Night Breakfast Study Session
  • Leadership Retreat
  • Math Center
  • Movie Tickets
  • Multicultural Committee
  • Opening Activities
  • Personal Counseling Center
  • Roosevelt Hall Life
  • Tutoring Center
  • Visiting Writers Program
  • Writing Across the disciplines
  • Writing Center
  • Over 70 clubs and organization designed to promote diversity, inclusion and a better campus life experience. (i.e. Residence Hall Association, Backstage, Women in Business)
