I have been very busy and missed the deadline for filing the intent to graduate form, can I still participate in the Spring Commencement ceremony?

If you did not file by the deadline of April 10,2014 you will not be able to participate in the  ceremony. Additionally, your name will not appear in the commencement program.

I received my diploma in December, but did not participate in the Winter Commencement and would like to participate in the Spring Commencement ceremony.

You can march in the Spring Commencement.  Please take notice of deadlines for caps and gowns, instructions, line up and the ceremony.  Therefore, you are invited to attend the May ceremony and your name will be included in the Commencement Program.

Must I have a cap and gown to participate in the  Commencement ceremony?

Yes, you must have a cap and gown to participate. Caps and gowns will be available for purchase. Visit the Barnes and Noble Bookstore. If you are unable to make it into the bookstore, please call them. Make sure to try on your cap and gown after purchasing to make sure it fits and all the parts are included.

When will the ceremony tickets be distributed?

The tickets will be distributed during the Spring Fling week. Specifically, tickets will be distributed on Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24 from 10:30am-2:30pm and 4:00pm-6:00pm  If you are unable to attend on one of these two days, then you will need to contact the Dean of Students office at to make arrangements for your tickets.

Can I get more than six tickets for the ceremony?

The number of tickets that will be distributed is determined by the number of students who have filed intent to graduate forms and indicate that they will attend the ceremony. Therefore, the number of tickets per graduate will be limited. If there are any extra tickets, they will then be distributed. There will be a VERY LIMITED number of extra tickets. After May 5th, if you would like any of the very limited extra tickets you will need to contact the Dean of Students office at to make arrangements to pick up any of the remaining tickets.

One of my guests has special seating needs because of a disability. How can I arrange for appropriate seating?

Please send an email to stating your name, and the name of your guest who needs special seating. Have your guests arrive early on graduation day. The gates will probably open around 11:00 am.

Must I attend the sign in, instructions and line up in Nold Hall gym at 10:30 am?

Yes, This is mandatory and that is where we will be making sure you have your card filled out correctly so that your name is called and you are recognized.  Additionally, instructions will be given in terms of how to line up, march, and be recognized on the platform by the President of the College.

Will my picture be taken at the ceremony?

Yes, your picture will be taken by a professional photographer and will be available for purchase in lat May or early June.

How long does commencement last?

Commencement usually lasts about two and one half hours, depending upon the number of students who attend.  Every student is recognized. Please join us after the ceremony for a reception on the Great Lawn between Nold and Roosevelt Halls.

What if happens if there is bad weather the day of Commencement?

Commencement will be taking place on the soccer field behind Nold Hall. Graduation is Saturday, May 17 at 12 Noon.   The rain date is Sunday, May 18 at 12 Noon. Please visit the College web home page for emergency information.  Please be aware that if we need to use the rain date, commencement will take place rain or shine.
