Candidate's Checklist

The following is a checklist you can download to ensure that you have done everything needed before the Spring Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at noon (Rain Date: Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the same time, rain or shine). If you have any questions about the ceremony, you can email Please let your guests know that no backpacks, coolers or umbrellas will be allowed into the graduation area.  Additionally, all individuals may be subject to search prior to admittance. 

Check the spelling of your name for the commencement program after you have filed your Intent to Graduate form.  (Deadline: Thursday, April 10, 2014.) You can check the spelling of your name by going to OASIS a few days after filing the form.

Visit the Barnes and Noble Bookstore to purchase a cap and gown.
NOTE:  The bookstore will be open during normal business hours during the week of May 12th-17th. If you are unable to make it into the bookstore, please call them at 631-249-3048. The bookstore will be open the morning of graduation, but will certainly be crowded. (Students must wear caps and gowns to participate in the graduation ceremony.) 
The bookstore will use its facebook page at to announce the arrival of the caps and gowns.

Spring Fling week is Monday April 21-Saturday April 26th.  Senior Days will be on Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24.  You will be able obtain tickets on these days from 10:30am-2:30 pm and 4:00pm-6:00pm in the lobby of the campus center.  Additionally, you will be able to order your cap and gown, senior rings, diploma frames and other graduation materials.  Six tickets will be available to each student. You must show your ID card.

Unable to obtain tickets on the above Senior Days?  If so, you must email the Dean of Students at Six (6) tickets are available for each student.  There may be some VERY LIMITED extra tickets. If there are any extras, these will be made available after May 5.  You will need to email the Dean of Students at prior to picking them up.  All tickets are free.

Please be aware that the graduation will be taking place outside, on the soccer field behind Nold Hall.  The ground may be uneven, so please plan accordingly in terms of clothing and shoes. Also, please be aware that in case of inclement weather on Saturday May 17, you should check the College's home page for information as to whether the rain date will be used. If the rain date (Sunday, May 18) is used, commencement will take place rain or shine.

Pick up previously ordered caps and gowns, which will be distributed only at the bookstore. It is very important that when you pick up your cap and gown, you open the package and check to see that you have everything that you are supposed to have: cap, gown, black tassel (Latin Honors students will receive a gold tassel during check in at graduation), hood (Bachelors degree) or bib (Associates degree).  Also, you should try on the cap and gown to make sure it fits. This will help avoid problems on the day of commencement.

Remember to arrive no later than 10:30AM on Commencement Day, May 17 (Rain Date: May 18th Rain or Shine at the same time) in Nold Hall  Main Gym for instructions and line up.  Enter Nold Hall though the main doors.  Remember, graduation will be outside.
