Credit-by-Evaluation or Language Proficiency Exam

-The exam is offered three times only in the FALL and SPRING semesters in the following languages:

Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Mandarin), Farsi, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Turkish, and Urdu.

-This exam is for native speakers only. Students must be fluent in the language and should be able to read and write in the target language. The exam is divided in three parts:

1. A translation of a text from English to the target language.
2. A translation of a text from the target language to English.
3. A 250-word essay on a topic selected by the instructor.

*There is a fee of $120.00 for the exam and the exam can be taken only once.
*This is a PASS or FAIL exam. Students will get 3 credits –at Intermediate Level I-to fulfill the Modern Languages Requirement once they pass the exam.

-The exam is given in MEMORIAL HALL- ROOM 214.
