Step by Step Guide

When to apply:

Interested in applying to FSC?  The recommended priority date for consideration of applications is January 1st for the Fall semester and November 1st for the Spring semester.  Applications received after those dates will be considered on a space available basis.  For more questions about applying to FSC, check out our Dates and Deadlines page. 

How to Apply:

  • Complete the online SUNY Application
  • Documents Needed for Freshman Applicants:
    • Official HS transcript
    • SAT/ACT scores
    • Letters of Recommendation, Resume, Personal Statement (recommended, but not required for a decision)
  • Documents Needed for Transfer Applicants:
    • Official HS transcript
    • Official College transcript(s)
    • SAT/ACT scores if you have completed less than 24 college credits

Open House:

Want to learn more about FSC?  Each semester, prospective students and their families and friends are invited to attend our Fall and Spring Open House.  Open House is a great opportunity to tour the campus, speak with current students and faculty and meet the academic departments!

Can't attend Open House?  Take a campus tour.  Tours include Farmingdale's NEW campus center, residence halls, athletic complex and academic buildsings.  Register today!


Once you're accepted...

Congratulations again on your acceptance to FSC!! Please visit our Accepted Student page for helpful tips to get you ready for the start of the semester.

Step 1 - Submit your $100 tuition deposit. Please be advised that Farmingdale State College requires a tuition deposit of one hundred dollars ($100) in order to confirm your acceptance and intent to enroll. You should submit the deposit no later than 30 days after acceptance if you wish to reserve your space for the semester. Please make sure to reference your Advanced Tuition Deposit Policy in your acceptance packet. For questions or concerns, please contact the Admissions Office at (631) 420-2200. **Transfer Students: Transfer credits will not be evaluated until your deposit is received.

Step 2 - Complete health forms. All the necessary Health and Wellness forms can be found in your acceptance packet. For more information contact the Health and Wellness Office at (631) 420-2009.

Step 3Register/Attend Orientation. The Dean of Students Office coordinates Orientation for all new freshman and transfer students. Orientation is designed to introduce you to services and programs that are vital to your successful transition to Farmingdale State College. Orientation is mandatory for all first time Farmingdale State College students, freshman or transfer. For questions regarding Orientation, please contact the Dean of Students at (631)420-2104.

Step 4 - Register for classes. Please contact your respective department to set up an appointment for advisement. A list of department phone numbers was included in your tuition deposit packet.

Step 5Apply for financial aid.  Submit your FAFSA form for need-based federal and college based grants, work-study and loans. We encourage you to consult with our Financial Aid Office about opportunities for funding support and for assistance with the financial aid process. The Financial Aid Office can be reached at (631) 420-2578.  Please also consider contacting our Scholarship Office for extra aid.

Step 6 – In order to be considered for housing, you must submit a completed application, Health Form and an Advance Room Deposit of $50 payable to Farmingdale State College. Please do not hesitate to contact Residence Life at (631) 420-2010 with any further questions.

Step 7 - Submit final transcripts.  Please make sure you forward your official final transcripts, as well as AP/IB credits from High School, to Farmingdale State College, Admissions Office, 2350 Broadhollow Rd, Farmingdale, NY 11735.

Step 8 - Order your textbooks and other school supplies. Farmingdale State College’s Bookstore, also associated with Barnes & Noble, is the perfect place to purchase textbooks, notebooks, Farmingdale memorabilia, etc. Pre-packing your textbooks can help to reduce the stress of beginning a new semester.

Step 9Obtain your student ID card. Please bring a copy of your student schedule or paid bill to Campus Police in order to obtain a student ID card.
