Office of Research and Sponsored Program Development

Farmingdale State College (FSC) encourages faculty and staff to engage in research and other scholarly activities beyond their teaching and administrative responsibilities.  The Office of Research and Sponsored Program Development (ORSPD) was established in 2008 to assist FSC faculty members access external funding for such activities and to help navigate the application and compliance requirements of federal/state and private funding sources.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Program Development is responsible for:

• External Funding Support Services:  ORSPD assists faculty and staff identify and apply for funding opportunities.
• Grantsmanship skill development:  ORSPD offers consultations and seminars in several different settings.  One-on-one consultations with faculty are available on an appointment basis.  Faculty workshops focusing on general grant subjects, grant writing or funding opportunity search training.
• Compliance with Federal, State and Sponsor regulations:  ORSPD along with the Research Foundation of SUNY on Behalf of Farmingdale State College interprets regulations and facilitates compliance when applying for grants.
• Administration of the FSC Institutional Review Board:  ORSPD, under the VP of Academic Affairs, is responsible for coordinating the IRB Committee established on campus to ensure compliance with Human Subjects research. 

ORSPD is located in Room 110 of Horton Hall, is staffed by Dawn Grzan, Director of Research and Sponsored Program Development and IRB Administrator.
