The Center of Excellence in Lean and Six Sigma at Farmingdale State College was created in 2005. Administered through the Office of Corporate and Professional Development (now the Office of Business Outreach) in collaboration with Farmingdale faculty and external experts in the field, the Center’s primary purpose is to contribute to the local economy by assisting Long Island companies in creating the continuous improvement and cultural shifts necessary to effect sustainable, high performance in all critical aspects of their business. While many of its trainers emanate from prestigious firms and corporations in the NY metropolitan area, the methodological approach of the Center’s programs will be original and highly customized.
The Farmingdale Center Lean team has been mentored by Dr. Alan Robinson, distinguished international expert in the field of Lean. Many possess black belts in Six Sigma, and will be guiding both Six Sigma and Lean implementation via consulting and train the trainer models for client companies.
Initially funded by private industry, the Center will be dedicated to implementing the highest quality Lean and Six Sigma programs available on Long Island and provide services and assistance to Long Island based companies for years to come.
