Overview of the NLN Pre-Admission Exam (NLN PAX)
The National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Examination (NLN PAX) is a standardized entrance exams for potential nursing students who seek admittance into nursing schools nationwide.
The NLN PAX comprises of three main areas: Verbal skills, which consists of both word knowledge and reading comprehension; Mathematics, which includes basic calculations, word problems, and incorporates algebra, geometry, conversions, graphs, and applied mathematics; and Science, which examines general biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science. The NLN PAX includes the above content as well as a section on health and first aid.

Who can take the NLN PAX?
RN Program: Students that are put on the Nursing waitlist for the RN Program must sit for the NLN PAX-RN. Please do not sign up for the test until you are notified by the admissions office that you have been placed on the waitlist.

How much does the exam cost and are refunds given?
The cost of the exam is $65. The NLN does not issue refunds for this exam. Review the NLN policy prior to registering for this exam.
Can I repeat the NLN PAX?
Any individual wishing to retake the NLN PAX is required to wait a minimum of six months before being eligible to repeat the exam. If you wish to repeat the exam within one year from your last test date written authorization is required from the director of the school of nursing to whom the report will be sent. Each test is valid for one year.
When are the tests given at the college?
The computer based test is offered on campus every Fall and Spring. Applicants will be notified of test dates.
