Bachelor of Science in Nursing
A four year program leading to licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Nursing Program Admission Requirements
All applicants to the BS in Nursing Program must have completed the following prerequisites with regents scores (if NY State resident):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two units of defined Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Sequential I, II, III, Math A Math A/B, or college algebra).
- Biology with Laboratory (Regents score 75% and above)
- Chemistry with Laboratory
- NLN PAX-RN preadmission exam (Please do not take the NLN test unless you are put on the nursing waitlist).
Please note:
- Completion of the minimum prerequisite courses does not guarantee admission. Applicants are ranked according to grades. The nursing program is highly selective and competitive. Students who are typically admitted have a minimum grade of “B” in all of their courses.
- To continue in the nursing program a grade of "C+" or better must be maintained in all nursing courses, a "B" or better in Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, as well as a "C" and above in Medical Microbiology. • Applicants must be eligible for licensure and employment at the time of application.
- Free tutoring is available for select prerequisite classes for Farmingdale State College students. Also, NLN books are available for reference in the library as well as the tutoring center.
- Nursing information sessions are offered every Tuesday morning at 10:00am in Laffin Hall.
Program of Study
The BS program takes 4 years to complete and consists of 125 college credits.
