Distance Learning Through Open SUNY

Farmingdale State College's Blackboard Learn

Farmingdale's online courses are taught through Open SUNY (formerly the SUNY Learning Network). Open SUNY has recently migrated Farmingdale to a new platform called Blackboard Learn and now all of our online courses are being taught through Blackboard.

To access Blackboard Learn, you should go to the following URL https://farmingdale.open.suny.edu

Then enter your CAMPUS (EMAIL) USERNAME AND PASSWORD. If you do not know your username and password, please log into OASIS, the student information system (the link is located on the upper right side of the College's homepage). Under 'Personal Information,' click on 'View Email Addresses.' You can also call the College's Information Technology Helpdesk for assistance with username/password and Blackboard login issues.

For all other issues (other than login issues) with Blackboard Learn, please call the FREE Open SUNY HelpDesk at 1-844-673-6786 (1-844-OPENSUNY), which is available to assist you seven days a week. You can contact the Distance Learning department at Farmingdale by emailing distancelearning@farmingdale.edu.

You can access your course(s) under the 'My Courses' section on the right of the Blackboard Learn homepage. If you are unfamiliar with Blackboard Learn, please go through the Open SUNY Student Orientation link in the upper left side of the homepage.

Students Residing Outside New York State and taking Distance Learning Courses at Farmingdale State College

SUNY programs must comply with all “authorization to operate" regulations that are in place in other U.S. states where the institution has enrolled students or is otherwise active, based on each state’s definitions.

Federal regulations require institutions delivering courses by distance learning to provide students or prospective students with contact information for filing complaints with the state approval or licensing entity in the student’s state of residency and any other relevant state official or agency that would appropriately handle a student's complaint.  Links to information for other states can be found here.
