Students interested in study abroad are invited to come to the Farmingdale Office of International Education and Programs, Laffin Hall, Room 320.

Students may participate in any SUNY Study Abroad Program offered through SUNY.  Information can be found at sunysystemabroad.com.

FARMINGDALE STATE COLLEGE IS OFFERING THE FOLLOWING SUMMER 2014 STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS:


 

FLORENCE, ITALY (in conjunction with Florence University of the Arts)

Location: Florence, Italy
Host Institution: Florence University of the Arts (FUA)
Program Type: Summer, Study Abroad
Dates:
Session I: May 18- June7
Session II: June 8- June 28
Session III: June 29- July 19
Session IV: July 20-August 9

Description:

Farmingdale faculty, in affiliation with the Florence University of Arts (FUA), will offer three-week courses in Italy during Summer 2014. Students earn 6 credits taking one Farmingdale course ( Business, Sports Management, History/Political Science, Science and Art History) plus one course selected from a wide array of FUA offerings. All instruction is in English.

Housing:

fully furnished, city-center apartments with students on the same program. Option single bedroom upon request only (additional cost).

Health Insurance:

HTH Worldwide Included, MEDEX to be purchased (SUNY requirement)

Program Cost:

Approximate Total: $3,906.00*

*Included in Program and Tuition Costs:

  • Accommodations in a shared apartment in the city-center. (housing is usually with other Farmingdale Students)
  • Orientation session
  • Initial international cell phone rental and rental fee (all calls and texts are an additional cost to you)
  • HTH Worldwide Insurance
  • Museum pass which grants you access to all of the most prestigious museums, cultural sites and gardens in Florence.
  • Wifi in all school facilities
  • 15 meal plan units to be used at GANZO (a restaurant run by students of the culinary college Apicius). Dinner requires more units than lunch.
  • Library access to FUA course textbooks and computer lab access.

NOT Included in Program and Tuition Costs:

  • Airfare: Approximately $1,000.00
  • Books and Supplies: Approx $200.00
  • Food and Leisure: Approx $250.00 per week
  • Cell phone: calls and texts both in Italy and Internationally (initial rental cost is the only cost included above)
  • ** Housing Deposit: $350.00 (refunded upon return from program pending there are NO damages)

Eligibility: 2.5 GPA or Dean of International Education and Programs approval

ROME, ITALY (in conjunction with Stony Brook University)

July 4 - August 1:
Cost is approximately $3,350 (airfare is extra) and includes shared room with a private bath, 2 meals per day, etro pass group excurions and international health insurance.  Group excursions to Rome, Florence, Assisi, Padua, Venice, Capril and Sorrento.  Students can complete 6-9 credits.

Barcelona, Spain

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Description:

Farmingdale State College offers this program to enroll as an exchange student at this business university in beautiful Barcelona, Spain. There you can enroll in courses that transfer towards fulfilling your Farmingdale degree for a semester or full academic year. This program is unique on that it is tailored to business and engineering majors. There is also an opportunity to participate in an internship.   Barcelona is an enchanting cosmopolitan city surrounded by exciting attractions and fun filled adventures. Since the late 19th century Barcelona has been leading in art, architecture and style. Studying in Barcelona will give students the opportunity to explore different cultures, Roman remains, medieval cities, and modern living.

Housing:

Not included, IQS does frequently review and update their list of recommend housing. (apartments, student housing, or home stay options). Cost varies based on personal preference.  Approximately: $450-$1000 Monthly

Health Insurance:

HTH Worldwide recommended, or International Health insurance meeting specific coverage criteria. MEDEX to be purchased (SUNY requirement)
