How to Apply

Steps for applying to a Farmingdale State College program:

Step 1: Complete a Preliminary Study Abroad Application.

  • The Office of International Education and Programs will contact you to set up a meeting with a study abroad advisor once this preliminary application is submitted

*if applying to a Florence University of the Arts Horticulture program, please complete this preliminary application

Step 2: Meet with a study abroad advisor.

  • Once you have met with a study abroad advisor you will complete your program specific application and gather any necessary documents indicated on the application checklist
    • At this meeting you will receive all program specific materials and instructions; be sure to bring:
      • Unofficial Transcript
      • Copy of passport (if not yet submitted)
      • $60.00 non-refundable application fee - paid at Student Accounts Laffin Hall, 226. Payment must be submitted with this form
        Payment is accepted in the form of cash, check or money order made payable to Farmingdale State College

Step 3: Meet with your department chair.

  • After meeting with your study abroad advisor you must meet with your department chair to obtain approval for your courses you will be taking abroad
    • When meeting with your department chair, be sure to bring:
      • A course pre-approval form (forms tab)
      • A copy of foreign course descriptions
      • A copy of the Farmingdale equivalent courses description
      • A copy of your check sheet or printed Degree Works (outline of degree requirements and courses you have taken)
  • Once you have your courses approved, submit your signed pre-approval form to your study abroad advisor who will then arrange course registration with the Registrar

Step 4: Submit all application materials by your program deadline.

  • Application deadlines vary by program and are subject to extension; please check the Study Abroad homepage and or your program specific page for the must up to date application deadline date.

Once registered:

  • If you are a FSC student going on a FSC program, all tuition and fees must be paid before departure to the Student Accounts office
  • If using financial aid please refer to the study abroad financial aid tab
  • If you are another SUNY student going on a FSC program: registration, course pre-approval and tuition must be paid to your home SUNY campus.
    • All additional program fees must be paid to FSC prior to departure

 

Steps for FSC students applying to another SUNY program:


*If applying to another SUNY program, you must apply directly to that school's program and complete the FSC Preliminary Study Abroad Application.

Step 2: Meet with a study abroad advisor.

  • Once you have met with a study abroad advisor you will complete your program specific application and gather any necessary documents indicated on the application checklist
    • When attending this meeting, be sure to bring:
      • Unofficial Transcript
      • Copy of passport (if not yet submitted)

Step 3: Meet with your department chair.

  • After meeting with your study abroad advisor you must meet with your department chair to obtain approval for your courses you will be taking abroad
    • When meeting with your department chair, be sure to bring:
      • A course pre-approval form (forms tab)
      • A copy of foreign course descriptions
      • A copy of the Farmingdale equivalent courses descriptions
      • A copy of your check sheet or printed Degree Works (outline of degree requirements and courses you have taken)
  • Once you have your courses approved, submit your signed pre-approval form to your study abroad advisor who will then arrange registration for a block of credits in order to hold your transfer credits until you complete your study abroad program
    *class registration abroad will be arranged by your host institution

Step 4: Submit all application materials by your program deadline.

Once Registered:

  • If you are a FSC student going on another SUNY program, your tuition will be paid here at FSC - all additional fees must be paid before departure to the Student Accounts office at FSC either in person or on your OASIS account
    • All other associated program fees are to be paid to the host SUNY school
