CISCO

The Cisco Networking Academy Program centers on teaching students to design, build and maintain small to medium-size computer networks. Farmingdale State, Long Island's first higher education Cisco Networking Regional Academy, offers a four-semester sequence of courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification by examination that is administered by Sylvan Prometric.

The program is designed to prepare students with little or no knowledge of networking concepts for the challenges internetworking technicians, administrators and engineers face in the 21st century workplace.

The curriculum is designed to accommodate diverse learning styles by using web technologies, including text as well as extensive graphics and QuickTime movies. It covers topics as basic as pulling cable to more complex concepts such as subnetting rules and strategies. Students will also learn how to configure and manage Cisco routers.
