Evan Cooper is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Farmingdale State College. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1988 with a B.B.A and received his PhD in sociology from SUNY-Albany in 2004. He teaches Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of the Family, Multiculturalism, Youth Culture, Research Methods, as well as several other courses. His research focuses primarily on representations of minority groups in the mass media, particular in comic works. He has published in several journals: his most recent article, "I'm a Little Scared of Elaine: Representations of Gentile and Jewish Women on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm" appears in Studies in American Humor.
