School of Arts & Sciences

FSC’s School of Arts & Sciences welcomes you!  We are excited to showcase our innovative and progressive programs which are designed to prepare our students for successful careers or graduate studies.  With thirteen academic departments, the School of Arts & Sciences is the largest School within Farmingdale State College.  In the fall 2011 semester, over 2300 students were enrolled in our programs and courses.

Our outstanding faculty, which includes six Distinguished Teaching Professors, two Distinguished Service Professors and more than 30 recipients of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, is committed to meeting a high standard of excellence in educating our students.

In addition to traditional classroom and state-of-the-art laboratory settings, students have the opportunity to enroll in newly developed on-line, hybrid and cluster courses.  Credit bearing internship placements in Applied Economics, Applied Psychology, Bioscience, Professional Communications and Technology Studies offer students invaluable educational opportunities.  Research projects, with hands-on learning experiences, under the direction of faculty both within and outside the classroom, further enrich the educational process.  Encouraged by faculty, many of our students present at workshops and conferences.

The School of Arts & Sciences now offers six Bachelor Degree Programs, one Associate Degree Program and the Certificate in Sciences for the Health Professions, to prepare Farmingdale College students for success in today’s modern, high-tech society. Expanding, evolving, innovative and successful, the School of Arts & Sciences is proud of its well designed degree programs, accomplished faculty, special programs, publications, student support activities and student organizations.  In the School of Arts & Sciences we truly follow the College’s pledge to put “Students First”.
